This collective mural is the result of a call from the curatorial committee of the Museo del Estallido Social. This call allowed graphic and visual artists who have intervened the streets and the public space in the context of the social protest to join in a collective space in this haven of collective and historic memory that is this Museum. This piece aims to document the aesthetics and collective imagery of their interventions which have been systematically erased from the streets by regional governmental institutions.
This collective art piece seeks to rescue the socio-political and protest practices that took place around Plaza Dignidad [former Plaza Baquedano / Italia] and the GAM facade, where different layers of artistic and political interventions created multimodal counter-hegemonic discourses voicing the demands of those who have been historically marginalized from the public space.
